Team Fishel recognizes the seriousness of yesterday’s events. We are truly grateful that no one was seriously injured in yesterday’s incident. We are proud of the way our Teammates responded in a swift and safe evacuation. Following our initial review of the facts, Team Fishel followed all of the Ohio Utility Protection Service (OUPS) requirements. Team Fishel had received the necessary clearances to perform the work which led to us hitting an unidentified gas line. An investigation is continuing as to why the gas line was unidentified.
While performing work at 2857 W. Broad Street in Columbus earlier this afternoon, a Team Fishel crew struck a gas line. The incident resulted in an explosion which impacted a number of local businesses and residents in the area. Our Teammates responded appropriately and aided in a swift evacuation of the area. We are thankful that there were no serious injuries reported. Our focus right now is on the safety of everyone impacted by this unfortunate incident. Team Fishel is on site working in collaboration with authorities to determine the cause of the incident.
