Robert Rinker joins Team Fishel as Arkansas Area Manager

Robert Rinker

Team Fishel is pleased to welcome Robert Rinker as the new Area Manager for our Arkansas operation. Robert comes to us from Graham Brothers Construction Company, a Georgia site development firm specializing in mining, heavy civil projects and site preparation. In his 7 years at Graham Brothers, Robert helped manage Business Development, Customer Relations and Operations. He also spent 7 years with Thompson Brothers Construction Company specializing in Construction Management Services for the private sector.

Robert began his career as an electrician in the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of South Florida and an MBA from Jones International University. As Area Manager for Arkansas, he will report to Vance Mauldin, Vice President of the Southeast Region.

HealthCheck360 Annual Screening Clinics coming up in June!

Team Fishel is proud to be listed in Columbus Business First’s inaugural Healthiest Employers publication, ranking 18th among large companies (501+ employees) in the Central Ohio region. The participation of many Teammates in our Wellness Program and annual HealthCheck360 screenings most certainly contributed to our success. And as HR Specialist Peggy Walker explains in the article below, this year’s onsite health screenings will be starting soon!

The Team Fishel Wellness Program will host the next round of annual onsite screenings in June, 2013.

If you are a new Teammate unfamiliar with the wellness program, Team Fishel has teamed with HealthCheck360, which combines an onsite screening and a short questionnaire to give you an objective view of your individual health risks and the opportunity to improve your health. This information is shared with you in the form of an individual report. The individual report will give you a basic understanding of your health, expressed by a numerical score which can be compared annually. This report and its contents are prepared exclusively for you and are not shared with Team Fishel.

After you receive your report you will have the opportunity to speak with a health coach to identify your risk factors and develop a plan to improve and optimize your health. Ongoing health coaching is available to you throughout the year as well.

The NRECA TechAdvantage® 2013 Conference and Expo is ready for kick-off and Team Fishel is pleased to participate in this year’s event.  Scheduled for February 18 -22 in New Orleans, TechAdvantage promises a wealth of innovative new ideas for reducing costs, improving service quality and exceeding customer expectations.  For rural electric cooperative professionals, this is the place to be.

This year’s agenda is as tasty as New Orleans cuisine and as cool as Dixieland jazz.  Attendees can check out new and emerging technologies on the big screen in the Technology Demo Theater.  Electric co-ops and vendors join forces in Fast-Track Technovation sessions to present case studies about recent technology deployments.  And more than 75 Learning Labs and Pre-Conference Workshops assure an informative, content-rich educational experience for all.

With nearly 300 leading vendors participating, the TechAdvantage Expo is loaded with ideas, technologies and solutions that will keep electric co-ops on the leading edge of the industry.  Team Fishel will be on hand for the entire week and we look forward to visiting with many of our friends from the NRECA.  Stop by and visit us at Booth #1237.

Teammates help folks warm up after Christmas 2012 blizzard

During the holiday season just past, our Teammates once again demonstrated their willingness to put the needs of other folks ahead of their own. In the wake of the massive Christmas snowstorm, Teammates from Florida and Kentucky hit the road to help restore power for residents of Arkansas and Virginia.

The storm that began in the Rockies and swept across the country became a Christmas Day blizzard that dumped more than 15 inches in Arkansas. Although it gave Little Rock the first white Christmas since 1926, the storm caused massive power line damage that affected more than 200,000 customers.

Approximately 70 Teammates mobilized to assist utilities Entergy and North Little Rock Electric with the repair effort. The majority of those Teammates – 60 to be exact – traveled from Florida and Kentucky prepared to spend a week or more restoring power to Arkansas homes and businesses.

Those are our Teammates! Call it a selfless disposition, a dedication to the work or a true concern for other people. Regardless of how you characterize it, these high performance guys care enough to respond again and again whenever they are needed. They truly deserve the biggest cheer we can give!

Team Fishel Expands Ohio Management Team

Team Fishel is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Barger and Chris Sands to Area Managers for Columbus and Dayton respectively.  The two will jointly manage Team Fishel’s Ohio operations to best serve the company’s significant growth in the state.

Mike Barger joined Team Fishel’s Columbus operation as a Laborer in 2001.  After a stint as Safety Coordinator in San Diego, he returned to Columbus in 2005 as a Supervisor and was promoted to Division Manager in 2009.  Mike holds a BA in Psychology from Ohio University and is a graduate of the Jeff Keeler Leadership Academy.

Chris Sands brings 35 years experience in telecom and gas utility construction to the Area Manager position.  He joined Team Fishel as a Laborer in Dayton in 1978 and was promoted to Crew Leader in 1986 and Operator/Foreman in 1987.  He became a Division Manager in 1994.

2013 – Exciting Times Ahead!

New Year’s Eve!  The festive day that closes the holiday season and opens a new year full of promise.  It’s a good time to review achievements of the past twelve months and the perfect opportunity to look ahead with a pledge to make 2013 even better.

At Team Fishel, we are proud of our high performance Teammates. Our business has grown dramatically in the electric, gas, broadband and data center market segments.  We’ve added over 400 new Teammates to our workforce and helped our Customers upgrade their infrastructure across the country. In short, 2012 has been a great year for our company and we’re looking forward to the next!

In honor of our fellow Teammates, we thank our Customers, business partners and friends for making Team Fishel’s success possible. As we close the door on the year past, we will charge ahead in 2013 with excitement, vigor and an ongoing commitment to excellence

Giving Back to Our Communities

We often write about our High Performance Teammates and their dedication the Customer. But during this traditional season of giving and good cheer, it’s important to remember that Fishel Teammates are dedicated to their communities as well. In that spirit, we’d like to celebrate some very special high performances for the Salvation Army, a Kentucky Food Drive and the United Way.

One of the most recognized symbols of the Salvation Army is the bell ringer with a Red Kettle standing in front of a grocery store or shopping mall. The Red Kettle campaign is The Salvation Army’s largest fundraiser contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to services helping people in Central Ohio. This past November, several Columbus Teammates signed on as Red Kettle volunteers and joyfully rang the bells. Their efforts will most certainly brighten the holidays for families in our community.

For the past three years, Kentucky Teammates from Divisions 11 & 12 have organized an annual Food Drive to help families in need. Their efforts provide food as well as cash and gift cards to several families. And best of all, the program has become more successful each year, helping 3 families in 2010, 4 families in 2011 and 6 families in 2012.

Teammates throughout the company supported this year’s United Way campaign as well. Pledges from Team Fishel and Team Power Group (TPG) together were a whopping 36.8% higher than last year’s campaign. Houston, Las Vegas, Louisville Technologies and TPG had 100% participation while seven more markets – Atlanta, Cincinnati Technologies, Corporate, Dallas, Florida, Manassas and San Diego – were above 90%!

Whether it’s Red Kettle Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army, helping families through a local Food Drive or doing our part for the United Way, our Teammates are there to help. Proof positive that our folks are High Performance members in their communities as well as on the job!
